Ravke came to us for help migrating their e-commerce site from WordPress to Shopify. They wanted our expertise not just on the technical migration, but on a modern design with clean animations and a visually rich, image-heavy layout. The client was frustrated with WordPress’s slowness and the limits it put on his business’s growth, and we agreed that Shopify was the better platform for merchants looking to scale.
Alongside the migration, Ravke wanted a multilingual store to reach markets across Europe. His primary focus is the Netherlands, but he also wanted an English translation to reach a broader audience, including the United States. We also built redirects for pages and products as part of the migration to protect his SEO.
We started by migrating his existing products, collections, and images to Shopify. During this stage, we encouraged a new photoshoot, since the existing images didn’t match the modern lifestyle brand aesthetic he wanted. While new images were being captured and edited, we drafted an initial layout for his review, revising based on his feedback to make sure we captured his vision accurately.
Once content was finalised, we built out the language switch feature, with a rough English translation for his review. Since he’s bilingual in English and Dutch, he was able to fine-tune the translation himself to better resonate with his audience. By the time that work was done, we’d received the new images from his photographer, and we spent real time allocating them to where they’d have the most impact on the design.
We had an abundance of high-quality images to work with, which let us be intentional about pairing images with heading content for a premium feel. Every collection carries a unique banner image, adding to the modern look the client wanted for the redesign. Ravke also had existing branding from his WordPress site, minimalist and built around black, white, and red, and we applied those colours carefully to create clear calls to action that guide customers through the site.
We also leaned into bolder colour choices in places, using contrasting sections to break up the page visually, and used the new photography to set the tone for the brand’s lifestyle-driven aesthetic in the fashion space.
Ravke was extremely pleased with the result, and the new Shopify site has launched to their genuine excitement. We’re confident the design will hold up well and continue resonating with customers for years to come.
